Customs Law and Litigation

Advising businesses in their dealings with the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, from inspection through to court proceedings.

Customs law is one of the firm’s core areas. The Moroccan Customs and Indirect Taxes Code grants the Administration extensive powers of control, assessment and recovery, and places precise obligations on importers and exporters, breach of which carries heavy financial penalties.

The firm intervenes at every stage of the relationship with the Administration: securing the detailed declaration, challenging tariff reclassifications, customs valuation disputes, and questions of origin and tariff preferences arising from the free trade agreements concluded by Morocco.

It also assists companies operating under economic customs regimes (temporary admission, warehousing, transit), during post-clearance audits, in negotiating settlements with the Administration and, where necessary, before the competent administrative or commercial courts.
